LEDs are fairly new to the market and will probably take some time to dominate the lighting industry, but here is some quick information about LEDs.

Light–Emitting Diodes are semiconductor devices that produce visible light when an electrical current is passed through them. LEDs are “directional” light sources which means they emit light in a specific direction, unlike incandescent and compact fluorescent bulbs which emit light and heat in all directions. The lifespan of an LED surpasses the short life of an incandescent bulb by thousands of hours, because they don’t have a filament that will burn out.  Common LED colors are red, green, and blue, but there is actually no such thing as a “white” LED. To achieve the kind of white “warm” light we use for lighting our homes and offices, different color LEDs are mixed with a phosphor material that converts the color of the light.  LED lighting technology is growing immensely day by day and can only enhance the atmosphere of desired lighting while minimizing your electric bill.
